Higher Education Students Loans Board has today released the first batch of successful applicants after the a series of analysis for the applicants 2017/2o18, 10,196 students first year candidates have successfully been granted these loans.
The Executive Director, HESLB Dr. Abdul-Razzaq at a media conference today, 18th October, proclaimed that 34.6 billion shillings has been set aside and budgeted for the 10196 students. A total of 108.8 billion has been set aside to accomodate the 30,000 first year students. He further said that the list of successful applicants can be found at heslb website and that it shall be sent to the respective universities and colleges.
Other batches shall be released in due time accordingly as the analysis and budgets upon completion. The main objective is to release all the names of the successful applicants before the end of October,2017 as campuses shall resume studies by november. The candidates under the multiple selection lists shall receive their loans upon being registered and confirmed in the university chosen.
At the same time he said that the Board shall allocate and transfer the necessary funds to the continuing students starting today, October 18th, 2017. A total sum of 318.6 billion shillings shall be allocated to 93,295 students continuing students. The main aim being this money reaching the students before opening of the universities in order to avoid commotion and disturbances for students.
The Board has requested the applicants to remain calm and patient as further analysis continues for other batches to come.
